Bermuda - Fall
Favorite Markets
Miles Market - Did I hear, "Godiva"? You bet. Steeped in history dating back to 1842, Miles specialty food market will dazzle you when you arrive but don't forget your credit card because you won't want to carry the amount of cash it takes to provision from this store. Miles offered the first Godiva coffee bar in the world and along with that comes the Godiva chocolate counter, gift baskets, and other goodies that will turn a grey day into sunshine. The meats at Miles are expensive but outstanding. I gave the butcher a list of meats that I wanted and not only did he vacuum seal the meats to the amount and quantity I requested but they were deep frozen when I picked them up, ready to pop directly into the boat's freezer with little impact on its temperature. I was very happy that I trusted my instincts and topped off on my meat provisions as good, fresh meats in the Caribbean are hard to find. Located on Pitt's Bay Road in Hamilton
The Supermart and MarketPlace are also in Hamilton and good for general provisioning at a much lower cost.
Farmers Markets
Laziness and bad timing got the best of me in Bermuda and I missed the farmers market both Saturdays that we were there.
The Farmers Market is held every Saturday from 8 AM to noon starting in November and ending in May. Locally grown fruit and vegetables, fresh fish, poultry, lamb, eggs, honey, plants, locally crafted jewelry, handbags, belts, cards, crafts, home-made breads and baked goods, jams, soups, fishcakes, nuts and coffee can all be found at the farmers market, located at Bull's Head, on Canal Road in Hamilton.
